Media library and garden

Maître d'ouvrage : Ville de Toulon Surface : 2500 m²

The project for the future Saint Jean du Var media library is at the heart of the proposal to restructure the Marnata property. The challenge is to offer residents bright and attractive spaces that will help revitalize the neighborhood. With its fractal shape, the project draws on biomorphic models and biophilic principles to create environments where people can flourish. We are interested in how users will experience the space, prolong that moment of experience, and make the facilities their own.

On the ground floor, the media library is open and transparent, allowing the reading areas to be seen directly from the public space. The building's reception area is located on this level to invite passers-by inside. The administrative and technical areas are kept away from the daily traffic of the media library.

Located upstairs, the offices are not disadvantaged by their location but, on the contrary, offer a panoramic view of the reading areas and a private patio. In terms of its external morphology, the offset volumes allow the existing trees to be preserved. The openings offer views of the garden, a true piece of nature that allows the eye to escape from the urban fabric. It is an invitation to appreciate nature and its poetry in space.

Inside, the media library is spacious and offers a beautiful double-height ceiling with abundant natural light. The furniture will be chosen based on several criteria: on the one hand, with a view to promoting different uses of the space and, on the other hand, taking into account the different age groups.
