The “Architekturgalerie am Weissenhof” architecture gallery is housed in the home of German architect Peter Behrens, in the heart of the “Weißenhofsiedlung”.
This district, which came into being in 1927 as part of the “Die Wohnung” (“The Home”, in German) exhibition, was an international showcase for what would later be recognized as Modern Architecture. Mies van der Rohe was in charge of leading the project and selecting the architects. Among them were Walter Gropius and Le Corbusier. Built over a 21-week period, the development comprised 63 apartments.
